Judging

Judging the Kenneth R. Wilson awards is a nation-wide affair that includes English, French and bilingual judges. We seek editors, writers, specialists, art directors, photographers and digital gurus to fill the judging ranks. We try our best to avoid conflicts on interest and so we look for a variety of relevant expertise.
 

SPECIAL AWARDS

The awards for Best Issue, Best Cover and Magazine of the Year are judged by single bilingual juries of three people.
 

WRITTEN CATEGORIES

For each written category, English-language entries are read by an panel of experts whose aggregated and averaged marks determine the finalists. French-language panels similarly judge French-language entries. Up to ten English- and French-language finalists are then sent to a bilingual jury. Their marks are aggregated and averaged along with those of the English- and French-language juries to determine the gold and silver award winners. If a juror declares a conflict of interest on any article, he or she is asked to abstain from adjudicating that particular article.
 

VISUAL CATEGORIES

Visual submissions for each category are judged by panels comprised of two or more judges.
 

DIGITAL CATEGORIES

Digital Categories are judged by four or more judges who review entries online then meet and adjudicate as a group.
